LAVASTONE has always been used as a raw material in the building industry. Now a new manufacturing technique has made it possible to offer a product called Majolica, which is a glazed lavastone. The glazed lavastone has advantages which other raw stones such as marble, terracotta, and granite lack. The technical features and aesthetic possibilities of the glazed stone combine to create a wear resistant, frost resistant, stain resistant, impact resistant and chemical resistant material. Because of its versatility this opens up new possibilities in interior and exterior design as well as in architecture. It has the ability to adapt easily to temperature. It can also undergo thermal shocks without breaking. It can be used in fireplaces, in bathrooms, for shower tiles / floors,on stairs, on countertops and tabletop, in sinks, on floors and in swimming pools, mosaics, and scuptures. The glaze allows use of a wide range of colours and create an infinite number of decorative motifs that meld modern and classical taste and style. Lavastone can be processed in different ways :
Like other raw stone it can be manufactured in single slabs that may vary in shape, size, dimension
and thickness ( ex. up to 1500x3000 mm or Ø 1600 mm )
TERRACOTTO undergoes the same manual processes of glazing and decorating as the lavastone. A harmonic balance is created between the technique employed and the handcraft produced. Machine cut cotto can easily be laid on floors or put on walls. Its uniforms sizes gives this flexibility and the fact that it is machine cut allows for a greater production.
