Inspired by the volcanic fury of Mount Etna, Made a Mano's new collaboration with London designer Faye Toogood is unveiled at the London Design Festival 2016. Magma is a project that explores the rawness and the resilience of the liquid stone that flows down from the fiery peak; the lava-stone tile designs, created using layered tones of signature Cristalli glaze, represent the colour variations of the rock as it moves through the cooling process, from white hot through red and pink to stony grey and black.

The accompanying installation comprises a series of tableaux, one for each of Etna's craters, mounted on chunks of lava stone. These tables play with multilayered slabs and carved geometric recesses that are filled with commingling layers of Cristalli glaze, creating unexpected textures and shapes that evoke the distorted craterscape of the volcano.
